Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched investigations into a case of a minor falling victim to sexual abuse.

The police institution revealed that the sexual abuse case was reported from the North Police Division comprising of Noonu, Raa, Baa and Lhaviyani atolls. The victim has been identified as an 11-year-old girl who was molested by a man in a reliable position.

The case was filed at police on October 12.

No arrests have been made in connection to the case, yet, however, further investigations are underway.
