The government has opened a new mosque in Hulhumalé.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih officially inaugurated the mosque, named "Masjid Muhammad" in Hulhumalé on Wednesday.
The mosque is a charity donation and has the capacity to accommodate 760 individuals at a time.
The mosque was opened with a separate space for female worshippers as well.
Construction work for the mosque commenced on 18 July 2019. It was completed on October 10, this year.
Following inauguration, President Solih, accompanied by Vice President Faisal Naseem and the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Ahmed Zahir, performed Asr prayer at the new mosque.
