14 individuals have received the National Award of Recognition, alongside four recipients of the National Award of Honor during this year’s National Awards ceremony, held in conjunction with National Day celebrations at the Republic Square on Tuesday night.

This year’s National Day reception saw recipients of the National Award of Honor presented commemorative shields and badges and recipients of the National Award of Recognition presented commemorative plaques by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Established to determine the recipients for the prestigious award, the National Awards Committee selects recipients each year.

President Solih congratulated this year’s award recipients.

National Award of Honor recipients:

  1. Late Ibrahim Hussain Fulhu - In the area of recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran
  2. Hassan Labeeb - In the area of Dhivehi literature
  3. Dr Hamid Rasheed - Contributions to the health sector
  4. Malla Lhathuthu - Contributions to the field of sports

National Award of Recognition recipients:

  1. Al’khafiza Latheefa Ahmed - In the area of recitation and teaching of the Holy Quran
  2. Abdulla Jameel - In the area of Dhivehi literature
  3. Fathuhulla Ahmed - In the area of Dhivehi literature
  4. Sharaful Hudha Mohamed - Contributions in the field of teaching
