The highest honor for serving the nation has posthumously been bestowed in memory of the late Hussain Salahuddin.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu presented the honor during the official ceremony held in commemoration of National Day 1446, at Dharubaaruge on Wednesday morning.

The decision was reached by the president on Tuesday, according to the President’s Office.

The president’s decision came in recognition of Salahuddin’s national service in paving the path for the intellectual and ideological development of Maldivians, as well as efforts to spread the light of knowledge in the most important aspects of Maldivian nationalism, namely as the religion of Maldivians, their language Dhivehi, as well as heritage and culture.

The president presented an honorary shield as the highest honor for serving the nation.

The highest honor for serving the nation is the most prestigious honor given by the president to individuals who have rendered outstanding services to nationalism.

The decision to bestow this special honor was reached under the powers vested in the president by the law.

Salahuddin stands out as the most innovative poet in Maldivian history. He was not only an exemplary son but also a key figure in upholding the nation's nationalistic values. His work on the biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) highlights his profound knowledge and fluency in both Dhivehi and Arabic.
