The Bank of Maldives has announced five winning proposals for the third quarter of 2021, under the bank’s ‘Aharenge Bank Community Fund’ initiative.
The community fund campaign aims to empower individuals to contribute to the society by conducting sustainable community projects across the Maldives.
The national bank revealed that the five winning proposals were based across islands in Baa, Haa Alif, Vaavu and Noonu atolls.
They are:
- Installation of solar street lights in Kudarikilu island of Baa atoll
- Developing an outdoor reading area in Thakandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll
- Establishing an ecological park in Molhadhoo island of Haa Alif atoll
- Developing a community picnic area in Felidhoo island of Vaavu atoll
- Establishing a fish filleting platform in Maalhendhoo island of Noonu atoll
Mohamed Saeed, the national bank’s Manager of Public Relations, revealed that BML had received a lot of great proposals under the initiative of which five winning proposals have been chosen.

BML has supported initiatives benefitting the communities of 55 islands so far. The bank extends appreciation to individuals and NGOs for ideas and tireless work to deliver the projects even in the face of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Bank of Maldives will be awarding MVR 50,000 to the selected projects under the community fund initiative in the areas of education, environment, sports and community development.
Five winning proposals are selected during each quarter.
