Maldives attaches great importance to the close, historical relationship with China, says Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
In commemoration of China’s national day, FM Shahid posted a Tweet extending sincere greetings to the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Maldives Wang Lixin, the government and friendly people of China on the auspicious occasion, noting that Maldives looks forward to “greater interactions” on enhancing cooperation in the future between the two countries.
Ambassador Lixin expressed gratitude for the well wishes and reiterated the keenness to much closer cooperation and more fruitful relations between both countries.
Further, she noted that Maldives president, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also congratulated the President of China, Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang respectively, expressing sincere gratitude to the leaders.
In a Twitter post, Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem revealed that both countries have enjoyed an amazingly collaborative relationship in strengthening the Maldives health sector for many years. He noted that it is his desire to continue the same, in the future.
The 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China was celebrated on Friday.
Maldives and China will mark 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, in 2022.
