Maldives Non-Resident Ambassador to Bahrain, Mohamed Khaleel has presented his credentials to the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Khaleel presented his letter of credence to the Bahraini King during a ceremony held at the Sakhir Palace on Wednesday evening.
Congratulating Khaleel on the commencement of his term as ambassador, King Hamad affirmed that the government and people of Bahrain will put in their best efforts to support him throughout.
The ceremony was joined by the Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Maldives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Badoora Saeed, the Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain, and other senior officials of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
After presenting his credentials, Khaleel joined Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa at dinner during which Khaleel expressed his honor for being appointed the first ever non-resident ambassador for Bahrain.
The ambassador went on to reaffirm his commitment to work in close collaboration with the government of Bahrain to further the existing ties of cooperation between both countries.
Khaleel's appointment as Non-Resident Ambassador to the Kingdom on Bahrain was approved by the People's Majlis in August 2020.
Khaleel also serve as Maldives ambassador to Saudi Arabia since June 2019 and was appointed as the non-resident ambassador to Oman in November. He has been serving several positions in the government since 1983.
