Ibrahim Hood has been appointed as the new Secretary of Foreign Relations at the President's Office
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Wednesday.
The appointee continues to serve as the Head of Communications Office at the President's Office alongside the new position which became vacant following the appointment of Sabra Nooradeen as the country's Special Envoy for Climate Change back in June.
Hood, who has nearly 16-years of experience in senior positions of the government, graduated with a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Australian National University, with first-class honors.
He has served in the President’s Office as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside having filled positions in Non-Government Organizations and the private sectors.
Prior to his appointment as Chief Communications Strategist of the President’s Office, Hood served as the President’s Spokesperson.
after relinquishing is responsibilities of spokesperson, Hood said that he will be focusing on the “overall communications effort” at the President’s Office from here on.
Hood, who held the post of undersecretary during former President Mohamed Nasheed's administration, was appointed the incumbent president's spokesperson in November 2018.
Mabrook Aziz was appointed president’s spokesperson in January 2021, after having served as the spokesperson of the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) until July last year.
