Evidence bill to be sent to Majlis this week
 
The process of sending bills to the Parliament is currently underway.
 
This bill will determine vital elements is evidence collection and testimony procedures.
 
More bills such as the food security bill, electronic communication bill, will be sent to the Parliament from the President’s office.

The President’s Spokesperson, Mabrook Azeez stated that the evidence bill will be sent to parliament during this week.

During the press conference held on Monday, Mabrook stated that work is currently underway for the government to send bills to the parliament for debate. One of the most significant bills, the evidence bill will be sent to parliament during this week.

Furthermore, other bills such as the food security bill, electronic communications bill, will be sent to the Parliament from the President’s office, as well.

Regarding this, the Attorney General’s Office has stated that this bill consists of elements such as, the types of evidence, the degrees of evidence presented, the extent to which evidence is required to be presented in a case, among others.

The scenarios in which this law can be implemented in, are also specified by the AG office. Legislative, civil and tribunal matters as well as those which require the involvement of government institutions, are some circumstances under which this law can be applied.

AG office has further specified how the evidence will be categorized based on source, level of significance, relevance to case, is all comprised in the bill. Further detailed, is how the evidence will be identified in court.

In addition, the process of evidence procurement, examination and cross examination procedures and stages, as well as re-examination process have all been elaborated.

According to the AG office, when this bill comes into effect, the current evidence law, and the law on women’s testimonies will be nullified.
