No injuries reported in Diamonds Athuruga resort fire
There have recently been a rise in fire incidents reported from resorts
The fire was controlled and put out in less than an hour
A fire incident was reported at Diamonds Athuruga Maldives Resort and Spa in South Ari atoll, on Sunday night.
According to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), a team from its Fire and Rescue Service was dispatched to the scene of the fire, which was reported around 8:22pm.
The fire was controlled and put out by 9pm, and no injuries were reported.
MNDF is yet to disclose the cause of fire, with further investigations ongoing.
There have recently been a rise in fire incidents reported from resorts. At least two were reported in the past few weeks; in Ritz-Carlton Maldives and Niyama Private Islands Maldives. No injuries were reported in both incidents as well.
