A fire incident occurred at Niyama Private Islands Maldives in Dhaalu atoll, on Saturday night.
Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) revealed that it was a water villa at the resort that had caught fire, adding that a team from its Central Area (in Dh. Kudahuvadhoo) had been dispatched to the resort immediately.
While the fire was reported around 8:50pm on Saturday, it was controlled in less than an hour by 9:20pm.
Only one room of the five-room water villa suffered damages.
MNDF further reported that a large part of the room’s upper area was mostly burnt. It has not disclosed if the cause of the fire has been identified.
No injuries were reported.
