An accident has occurred at sea with a launch and dhoni colliding near the Emboodhoo sadbank in South Male' Atoll.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said the accident was reported to them at around 8:41pm on Monday. No injuries were reported.

According to MNDF, the launch that had departed from K. Maafushi crashed into the boat anchored a mile from the sandbank.

While the crew and passengers of the launch were transferred to capital Male' privately by the owner, the vessel was transferred by the Male' Area Coast Guard Squadron.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
