President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has instructed all government employees and agencies to complete their vaccination doses against the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
In the 22nd directive of the President’s Office for the ongoing year, the president noted the importance of immunization against Covid-19, which is the best safeguard for the entire community.
The directive was released following a circular by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) publicized on Monday, urging the same.
Under the directive, all government employees and agencies, as well as subsidiaries of the state institutions are required to complete first doses of Covid-19 vaccinate by August 15. Second doses are to follow after the period given by the healthcare authorities.
Further, those who have been advised against vaccination by doctors due to pre-existing medical conditions, have also been instructed to complete vaccination if their condition allows.
State administrators and senior management at ministries have been urged to ensure all employees are fully vaccinated against coronavirus as soon as possible.
In a cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, the president called on all authorities to encourage inoculation against coronavirus, describing the safety measures and precautions implemented by the government to have made progress in achieving a new normal.
Government institutions and subsidiaries have been urged to work towards the government’s goal to complete vaccinations for the entire eligible population of Maldives.
During the cabinet meeting, cabinet members discussed ways through which authorities may improve the ongoing vaccination drive.
The incumbent administration launched the “Covid-19 Dhifaau” inoculation drive on February 1 and authorities are currently in the final stages of the campaign, with the aim to vaccinate 90 percent of the eligible population by the end of August.
Over the past weekend HEOC kickstarted the last Covid-19 vaccination campaign or the "final push" across Maldives populous capital Malé City.
