Maldives has confirmed the 220th Covid-19 fatality.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) identified the Covid-19 victim as a 66-year-old Maldivian man who was brought to the Health Center in Dhuvaafaru island.
The man was pronounced dead by doctors at the health center at 12pm on Tuesday.
This comes a less than a week after the last Covid-19 victim was reported, a 60-year-old Maldivian man being treated at the Hulhumalé Medical Facility. The man died on Friday night.
Of the total number of deaths to Covid-19, 170 have been reported thus far in 2021.
The island nation reported the highest number of deaths in a single month since the pandemic began, during May 2021, when a total of 88 deaths were confirmed. 50 deaths were confirmed in June while nine deaths have been reported in July.
Maldives reported its first Covid-19 fatality in April 2020.
