President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed traveled to Kumundhoo island of Haa Dhaalu atoll on Saturday.
This is the second stop in their three-island tour of Thiladhunmathi Atoll.
The first couple traveled to the southern division of the atoll on Friday, with Kulhudhuffushi island being the first stop of their tour.
The president met with the city council, management of the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH), South Thiladhunmathi Atoll council as well as educators and senior officers of the Upper North Police Station during the one-day trip, while Fazna visited the city’s Family and Children’s Service Centre and met with members of the Kulhudhuffushi Women’s Development Committee.
While the government has started a KRH expansion project, it has also pledged to build a new tertiary hospital in the island.
From Kumundhoo, the first couple will travel to Hanimaadhoo island.
They are to return to Malé on Sunday.
