Foreigner arrested at Velana International Airport (VIA) after bullets were discovered in luggage has been remanded by three days.
While the 60-year-old Namibian was arrested while departing the Maldives on Saturday morning, police said that the tourist was taken for a remand hearing on Sunday and was remanded for three days.
Police continue to investigate the case, but did not disclose any further details other than that the matter was reported at 9:52am on Saturday.
Possession of firearms, explosives, weapons, and ammunition is prohibited in the Maldives. It is illegal to import these items as well.
