Enhancing physical and digital connectivity is important to achieve economic progress in the Indo-Pacific region, says Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
Shahid joined the inaugural session of Indo-Pacific Business Summit on Tuesday as the guest of honor.
In his address the foreign minister expressed gratitude to neighboring partners for the support extended during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Further, he shed light on the strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific region, going on to highlight the important role that the Maldives can play to ensure a stable, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
Tuesday’s session of the summit was joined by ministers across the Indo-Pacific region.
Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of India delivered the inaugural address at the summit, which is to proceed virtually until Thursday.
Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, the summit will see the participation of governments, enterprises, business chambers, think tanks as well as academia from countries spanning the Indo-Pacific region.
