Well-known coach Mohamed Adam has been appointed as a consultant at the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
FAM’s President Bassam Adeel Jaleel announced this via Twitter this past weekend.
While Jaleel had back in 2017 expressed interest in expanding the Dhivehi Premier League as a home and away league across the country, the association last year formed a committee to execute this for the 2023-2024 league.
The work is being led by FAM’s Senior Deputy Ali Umar and National Football Team’s Assistant Coach Ali Suzain. While Adam has been added to the team as a consultant, the FAM president said he will "organize and execute the new league format”.
While Adam has rejoined the football association, he most recently worked as the coach of United Victory (UV). He left the post this January.
Adam had previously served as FAM’s general secretary and filled senior posts in its marketing department.
While the FAM president had initially expressed interest in expanding the league in 2017, he discussed the matter with the now-suspended Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof back in August 2019.
