Maldives Meteorological Service has revealed that thunderstorms are expected over central and northern atolls of the country, however, the weather is expected to be fine in the south.

The department revealed that rain showers will be experienced across northern and central atolls between 10am Sunday and 10am Monday, with chances of thunderstorms.

Further MMS stated that central and northern atolls will experience varying winds gusting 5 = 15 miles per hour between west to northwesterly as well as south to southwesterly in the southern atolls.

During rain showers, MMS predicts winds to gust up to 30 miles per hour.

The department revealed that seas will be slight becoming moderate during showers throughout the country, with a wave height of two to six feet.

Maldives is currently experiencing southwest monsoon showers.
