Security levels near the presidential residence have been strengthened following intel reports of bomb threats.

A credible source confirmed to RaajjeMV that intel reports were received on the night of May 30. 

The area near Mulee’aage is always secured by officers of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and following the bomb threats, security has been boosted.

MNDF is yet to comment on the matter.

This comes at a time Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a 28-year-old Maldivian man in connection to bomb threats targeting the People’s Majlis building.

Police launched investigations into a comment by a Maldivian on RaajjeTV’s Facebook live, who asserted that the People’s Majlis building needs to be blown up. After confirming the arrest of the suspect, police revealed that they will always investigate such cases as serious offenses and that they will ensure the safety of the public.
