Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adrican Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of Morocco, Nasser Bourita have expressed commitment to further strengthen bilateral partnership in a number of areas.
Both ministers engaged in discussions during a call on Friday, where the pair renewed commitment to boost the long-standing fraternal ties and explored avenues for further bilateral collaboration.
During the virtual meeting both ministers shed light on the existing relations between both countries, stemming from deep historical and fraternal ties.
As such, the ministers expressed their satisfactions on the enhanced bilateral links between both countries, especially after FM Shahid’s official visit to Morocco during November 2019.
The pair went on to reaffirm commitment to boost cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism and de-radicalization, education, climate change, renewable energy and sports cooperation.
During the call FM Shahid expressed gratitude to the Moroccan government for its continuous support and solidarity with the government of Maldives in the multilateral fora.
The long history of relations between both countries trace back to the 12th century and both countries will celebrate 40 years since the inception of diplomatic relations this year.
