President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended his sincere gratitude to doctors on the occasion of the Maldives' National Doctor's Day.
The President extended felicitations of National Doctor's Day to doctors working in the Maldives in a tweet posted on Sunday. President Solih expressed gratitude for the invaluable efforts of doctors over the past year in contributing to the Maldives' national Covid-19 response and protecting the health and safety of citizens.
The President has previously recognized the efforts being made by doctors, health professionals and medical service providers in helping Maldives combat the global Covid-19 pandemic, and has noted that they are owed a great debt by the people of the country.
Maldives has been in a state of public health emergency for over a year as doctors and healthcare professionals around the country have been working to control the spread of Covid-19. Efforts are now underway to immunize and vaccinate the nation's resident population against the potentially fatal infection, which has killed over three million people worldwide.
