Those living in the Maldives who received their first Covid-19 vaccine dose from abroad will now be able to receive their second dose from the Maldives, for vaccines being administered locally against the infection.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that applicants will have to provide their name, identification, contact details and vaccination details, including the type of vaccine first administered, and the date of vaccination, to the Health Ministry via ([email protected]) to be eligible for the vaccination.

Since the national Covid-19 vaccination drive was first initiated in the Maldives in February, 251,139 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country. This is roughly 57 percent of the total population eligible for Covid-19 vaccinations.

As of now, the Pfizer, Moderna and Covishield vaccines are being administered in the Maldives against Covid-19. The Pfizer vaccine, which Maldives received through the COVAX facility, is being administered to special groups living in the Male' area.
