The first amendment bill to the Armed Forces Act has been ratified.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ratified the legislation; Act no: 1.2008, on Thursday.
The legislation was passed by the People’s Majlis during Monday’s parliament sitting, which was the 14th sitting of the ongoing first parliament session of the year.
Ratification of the first amendment to the act is expected to further enhance the retirement procedures of armed forces personnel.
The amendment revolves around two subjects, including the maintenance of the armed forces’ structure and prioritization of retaining the most proficient officers in the armed forces.
The newly ratified amendment has been publicized in the government gazette, following which it has come into immediate effect.
