The Ministry of Tourism has unveiled the logo to be used to celebrate and promote the country’s Golden Jubilee Year of Tourism 2022.
The event to launch the logo was held virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, where the Chairman of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), Mohamed Umar Manik unveiled the logo on Wednesday. Manik played a pivotal role in introducing tourism in the nation.
Speaking during the virtual event, Manik revealed that it has been 50 years since zealous travelers have been visiting the Maldives which has been drawing in visitors with its picturesque beauty. He noted that the country’s beauty still remains the same as ever before.
Stressing that he was faced by a number of challenges in promoting tourism across the nation, Manik noted that he had played an instrumental role in bringing the tourism sector to where it stands today.
The logo launching ceremony was also joined by MATI’s Vice Chairman Hussain Afeef, one of the most instrumental figures in increasing tourist arrivals, current Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem as well as the first Minister of Tourism in the country, Ahmed Mujthaba, current Tourism Minister Abdulla Mausoom alongside Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Thoyyib Mohamed as well as Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM)’s President, Abdulla Nasheed.
Designed by Ahmed Nashath and Mohamed Azlif, the Golden Jubilee Year of Maldives Tourism 2022 logo reflects the country’s rich culture, heritage and environment.
Maldives will mark 50 years since the tourism industry’s inception, in 2022. Promotional activities launched into the beginning of the ongoing year, with the ministry’s social media accounts flooded with video clips featuring messages by senior industry officials as well as industry workers.
