The Maldives 50 Best Sites: Reef Health Assessment Photo Shoot Competition has begun.
The Reef Health Assessment Photo Shoot Competition is taking place under a partnership between the Ministry of Tourism, Dhiraagu and Ocean Geographic, in association with the Maldives Alliance of Dive Operators (MADO).
The Photo Shoot Competition is held to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Maldives’ Tourism.
The main objective of the competition is to serve as a yearly health check of the Maldivian reefs, that serves as an important part of the country’s conservation efforts, while also showcasing the unique underwater beauty of the Maldives.
50 signature dive sites have been pre-selected for the competition, which is open to both visitors and local divers. From this, participants must submit a portfolio of five pictures for one or more site.
An international judging panel will preside over the photograph selection. A winner, runner-up, and three honorable mentions will be awarded for pictures submitted from each of the 50 dive sites.
Additionally, all competitors will also be acknowledged with a Certificate of Achievement for contribution to the Coral Reef Health Assessment of the Maldives.
The competition will continue until 15 December 2022.
Dhiraagu states that the company remains committed to supporting initiatives that focus on caring for the oceans and conserving the environment. The company highlights that this is a key focus of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
