Representatives of driving schools in Maldives have protested concerns to the People's Majlis, citing failure on behalf of the Ministry of Transport to address difficulties presented to them in light of Covid-19.

Those who protested the issue on Sunday revealed that they had appealed their concerns to parliament as the Ministry of Transport had failed to address and adequately resolve their concerns. Participants of the protest added that they had attempted to contact the Ministry of Transport on multiple occasions to no avail, and highlighted losses being faced by many due to difficulties experienced by driving schools in light of Covid-19.

They also noted that every time such concerns were communicated, they were forced to protest as authorities have consistently failed to address them in an effective and timely manner.

Protestors remarked on the difficulties being faced by those seeking driving licenses, in addition to those employed with various driving schools. They expressed relief in being able to communicate concerns to the Speaker of Parliament, and said that they would be officially relaying their concerns to parliament in a letter as requested.

Protestors have affirmed that they will continue efforts if an acceptable solution is not produced from parliament. While protestors gathered in front of the People's Majlis on Sunday afternoon, the initial protest had begun inside the Ministry of Transport on Sunday morning following the ministry's failure to address protestors' concerns.
