Latest statistics by the Ministry of Finance detail that the Maldivian government has earned MVR 2,192.4 million in revenue by 21 February 2021.
The weekly fiscal development report published by the Ministry of Finance show that up until 18 February 2021, the government of Maldives had reported MVR 2,427.1 million in revenue, including MVR 2,102.4 million earned as tax revenue and MVR 321.3 million recorded as non-tax revenue.
For the same period last year, the government had recorded MVR 3,335.4 million in revenue, including MVR 2,717.9 million earned as tax revenue and MVR 604.1 million recorded as no-tax revenue.
Statistics by the Finance Ministry further show that the government had earned MVR 2.2 million through capital receipts during this period last year, and that earnings through capital receipts for this year currently stood at MVR 1.1 million. The report also details that the Maldives had recorded MVR 16.7 million in grants for the same period last year, while this year, the Maldives has received only MVR 2.9 million in grants.
The government has thus far spent a total of MVR 2,361.7 million in the ongoing year of 2021. his includes MVR 1,669 million recorded as recurrent expenditure, in addition to MVR 692.6 million recorded as capital expenditure.
Further, the Ministry of Finance details that the Maldivian government has thus far spent MVR 165.1 million for the repayment of loans, in addition to MVR 23 million having been transferred to the sovereign development fund. As of 18 February 2021, the government has spent a total of MVR 279.1 million on Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) projects.
