Individual being treated after getting trapped under falling glass palette

An individual is being treated at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for injuries attained in an accident near Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) in Maldives capital, Malé City.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) received reports of the accident at around 7:45pm on Thursday. The accident occurred after an individual got trapped underneath a fallen glass palette.

MNDF Fire and Rescue team was dispatched to the area shortly after receiving the report.

Providing further details, MNDF revealed that the glass palette slipped and fell off a container and authorities had to cut into the sides of the container to free the trapped individual. He was rescued from underneath the glass palette at around 8:40pm.

MPL’s Deputy CEO Ibrahim Abdulla told RaajjeMV that they are looking into the matter, in order to figure out the cause of the accident.

He also noted that one of the individuals injured in the accident is being treated for a three-inch cut. No other injuries were reported to the individual.

The other person is currently in stable condition and awaiting test results.

Another individual was reportedly injured in the accident as well, and authorities revealed that the person is receiving treatment at IGMH too.

MNDF officials and police officers as well as paramedics were active in the region.
