13 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the Maldives.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) collected 2,754 samples for coronavirus testing within the past 24 hours and out of the over 2,700 samples, 13 samples tested positive for the infection.

The new cases reported by sundown on Tuesday are seven from the epicenter of the virus, the greater Malé region, four from residential islands and two from operational resorts.

With this development, the country’s Covid-19 tally currently sits at 13,392.

In addition, the public health authority also reported 30 recoveries between 6pm Monday and 6pm Tuesday.

A total of 12,760 virus-stricken patients have observed full recoveries from the global pandemic in Maldives, thus far.

Out of the 577 active coronavirus cases in the island nation, 61 patients are hospitalized for treatment. This is just one less than the previous day.

Over the past few days, Covid-19 cases have steadily been declining and authorities are also easing restrictive measures placed due to the pandemic, gradually.

The latest Covid-19 death was reported in the Maldives last weekend, when a 69-year-old local man succumbed to complications.

Frontline workers have collected a total of 274,076 samples for Covid-19 testing, in Maldives thus far.
