He passed away after suffering from a heart attack

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has offered condolences to the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi, following the demise of Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, the country's former Prime Minister.

In his message, the president expressed deep sorrow in having learnt of Jamali’s passing, and offered condolences on behalf of the government and people of Maldives, to the government and people of Pakistan, at this time of national grief.

Solih noted that the late former Prime Minister will be remembered for his long and distinguished service towards the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

International media reports that Jamali, 76, passed away after suffering a heart attack, on December 2.

He was elected as the Prime Minister of Pakistan in November 2002, during the military regime of General Pervez Musharraf. He resigned from his post during 2004.
