Maldives has confirmed a total of 12,578 Covid-19 cases since March.

32 new cases were announced on Saturday; 17 locals and 15 foreigners. 19 of the cases are from the capital region and the remaining are from islands or resorts.

The cases were confirmed from the 1,561 samples tested within 24 hours.

While the country’s case count has reached 12,578, with a total of 11,559 recoveries and 45 deaths confirmed, there are 967 active cases currently.

There are 17 active cases of the virus across 14 residential islands as well as a total of 207 cases in 30 resorts; these include 52 tourists and 155 staff.

82 patients are receiving treatment at hospitals, two more than the previous day.
