Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) hosted a flag and guard mounting ceremony at the memorial monument in commemoration of Victory Day, on Tuesday.
The ceremony began at 6:30am, Tuesday and was attended by the Minister of Defense and National Security, Mariya Ahmed Didi, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed and senior officials of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) as well as MNDF.
Chief of Defense Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal and Vice Chief of Defense Force Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef were joined by retired officers of the armed forces, during Tuesday’s ceremony as well.

The flag was mounted by the flag party of MNDF and the ceremony also saw a seven-gun salute by police officers.
Vice Chief of Defense Force Brigadier General Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef who also joined the ceremony, had officiated the renewal of military officers’ determination.
MNDF Southern, Northern and Central Area also hosted flag mounting ceremonies to mark the day.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual festivities of the day including a musical drill have been hindered.
