Maldives applauds the United Nation’s efforts to encourage cooperation among nations, says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Taking to Twitter to extend felicitations of the ‘United Nations Day’, the Maldives president noted that UN heralded an order that prioritizes peace and cooperation among nations in order to meet common challenges.

The UN’s role in spearheading efforts to battle the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic mirrors this multilateral spirit, he added.

In light of this, President Solih noted that Maldives celebrates ‘United Nations Day’ as a “proud” and “active” member.

Maldives became a Member State of the UN on September 21, 1965.

An international organization founded by 51 countries, UN was established on October 24, 1945 with an aim to maintain international peace and security after World War II as well as to build friendly relations among states.
