Three injured in separate stabbings

Incidents took place in capital Male’ City, southernmost Addu City and Foakaidhoo island of Shaviyani atoll

Police officers responded to three separate stabbings on Sunday.

The first stabbing was reported at around 10:51pm, in capital Male’ City.

Police did not initially reveal any further details, other than the victim was taken to ADK Hospital for treatment.

RaajjeMV understands that the victim is the managing director of the Greater Male’ Industrial Zone, Ibrahim Rasheed.

Police said that they were informed that this was an accident. The individual that sustained the injury is to have informed them that he believes that he got the cut from a “cutter” inside his wife’s bag, while on motorcycle.

Police is working to verify this.

A second stabbing was reported from southernmost Addu City at around 12:28am, with police saying that this was the result of a fight between two gangs.

While the victim was transferred to Addu Equatorial Hospital for treatment, police said that he had sustained “serious injuries” in the attack.

No arrests have been made, as of Monday morning.

Further, a 43-year-old Bangladeshi national has been arrested following an altercation with another expatriate worker in Foakaidhoo island of Shaviyani atoll. He has since been remanded by 15 days.
