Eight contacts of a Covid-19 case detected in Kulhudhuffushi City have tested positive for the infection.
The Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC)’s spokesperson, Dr. Nazla Rafeeq announced this at Wednesday’s Covid-19 press briefing.
Noting that the police had conducted a special operation in the north on September 14, Nazla said that one of the officers involved in the operation had later tested positive for Covid-19.
While the officer is to have tested positive on October 5, two of his contacts tested positive the next day. Eight Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in this cluster thus far.
The officers contacts have been identified and quarantined, according to the doctor.
Six islands in the north were placed under monitoring after the officer tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday; they are HA. Baarah, HA. Dhihdhoo, HA. Hoarafushi, HDh. Kurinbi, Sh. Funadhoo as well as Kulhudhuffushi City.
