Gov't publicizes temporary list of 'Hiyaa' flat applicants for 'H9' category

2,775 applicants are eligible under the criteria

25 applicants do not meet the set criterion

Opportunity to submit complaints will be open from September 21 to October 4

Committee Investigating Public Housing Schemes has publicized the temporary lit of applicants for the ‘H9’ category under the ‘Hiyaa’ public housing scheme.

Upon publication in the government gazette, applicants will now be able to view the re-evaluated points under the ‘H9’ category or the Malé Registry category.

The publicized list highlights reasons why the committee believes some applicants had failed to receive adequate points to qualify for public housing.

Details of the applicants the committee was unable to contact in order to do the physical evaluation of their current lifestyle and housing conditions, have also been shared.

The committee further opened the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the temporary list through the official Hiyaa complaintsportal.

Complaints regarding the ‘H9’ category list of temporary applicants will be accepted between September 21 to October 4, before 3pm.

The list publicized by the government lists 25 applicants who do not qualify and 2,775 applicants who do qualify.

Once other categories are accessed and the work is complete, the temporary lists for those categories will be announced as well.

Last week the committee began responding to complaints received regarding the temporary list of flat applicants in four categories; housing for doctors and nurses (H4), housing for teachers (H5), housing for Malé City residents (H8) and housing for persons with disabilities and family (H10).

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Mohamed Aslam earlier revealed that it will take eight months before the flats are habitable.

Launched during the administration of incarcerated former president Abdulla Yameen to initially provide 7,000 housing units, the Hiyaa flats are located in Phase Two of Hulhumalé. However, the amount was reduced to 6,720 in order to set up commercial areas on the ground floor of each tower.
