Maldives Police Service (MPS) has launched an investigation into the case of sexual assault inside a quarantine facility.
Police revealed that the sexual assault case was reported from a quarantine facility in the capital, Malé City.
The victim in the case, a 26-year-old woman who tested positive for the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, is to have been sexually assaulted by a foreigner who works at the facility.
The case was lodged at the police institution on September 6.
The authority's Family and Gender Affairs Department is currently investigating the case.
