Maldives has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Somalia and the military projectile attack towards Jazan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement released on Tuesday following the attacks that took place on Monday, the government revealed that it remains steadfast and committed to work closely with the Government of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the international community in eliminating the global menace of terrorism.
Further, Maldives offered condolences to the members of the bereaved families and to all those affected by the “horrific incident”.

The terrorist attack targeted a popular beach side hotel in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia on Monday, took more than 10 lives and left many injured in its wake.
International media reports that the attack is part of the series of attacks across the Horn of Africa by Al Shabab, a militant group linked to Al Qaeda, seeking to wreak havoc and overwhelm the government.
Further, Maldives also condemned the military projectile attack towards Jazan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In light of the attack, the ministry wrote that “such deplorable” acts of terrorism negatively impact the efforts by those trying to find peace to conflicts in the region.
Reaffirming solidarity with the brotherly people and the Kingdom, Maldives reiterated commitment to work closely with the international community in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
