The government has publicized a list of eligible candidates in the ‘Hiyaa’ housing scheme, who were unreachable via phone for the living standards verification process.
A statement released on Sunday reads that the list includes eligible candidates from the H9 and H11 categories under the public housing scheme who were unreachable when the authorities attempted to phone them for the physical verification process to assess their living standards.
In a press released issued by the Committee Investigating Public Housing Schemes, the list of unreachable applicants has been publicized in the gazette.
The Committee Investigating Public Housing Schemes stated that the list is for the physical verification process of eligible candidates and is not an complete list of flat recipients.
In this regard, individuals listed in the publication have been sought to fill a form and send in their application by 3pm, August 23.
The ‘Hiyaa’ housing scheme was launched during the administration of now incarcerated, former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the committee was formed in order to investigate whether the then-administration had issued flats deservedly.
Earlier, the Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure had revealed that out of the total number of applicants for the housing units, the government has been able to complete the physical verification process to assess the living standards of 40 percent. Work is underway to conduct assessments for the remaining.
