Maldives has confirmed the 19th death to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Deceased is an 80-year-old Maldivian woman.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) on Twitter revealed that the woman was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit of the Hulhumalé Medical Facility for Covid-19 treatment when she passed away at around 9:30am on Tuesday.

She was one out of the five patients receiving treatment in intensive care at Hulhumalé Medical Facility.

Maldives reported two deaths to Covid-19 on Sunday. The first was a 52-year-old Maldivian woman who passed away on Saturday night. The second death followed on Sunday morning, when an 89-year-old Maldivian woman succumbed to the virus.

Since the global pandemic surfaces in the island nation on March 7, a total of 4,293 cases have been confirmed.

The public has raised concern over the rise in local cases being detected in the country of late, however, the authorities have expressed their intent to avoid a second lockdown.
