Maldives reported 17 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), the new cases include 13 Maldivians, three Bangladeshi nationals as well as one Sri Lankan.
The 17 cases were confirmed from 807 samples tested within 24 hours.
The brings the country Covid-19 case count to 2,930.
An additional 14 recoveries were reported on Saturday as well, and the country’s total recoveries has reached 2,354.
At the daily Covid-19 press briefing held at the Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) on Saturday, officials said that the highest number of hospital usage was seen between 8-14 July at 17 percent.
While a total of 891 samples were taken from flu clinics during this period, nine percent had tested positive for Covid-19, showing an increase in positivity rate.
Further, a 30 percent increased in cases with no links to previously confirmed cases were detected within the same period.
Kudafaree island in Noonu atoll is still under monitoring, as a number of people on the island are in quarantine after coming into contact with an elderly citizen that later tested positive for the virus.
There are currently 546 active Covid-19 cases in the country.
