The government has announced that a 40 percent subsidy will be provided or electricity bills for the month of June, due to the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic.
An opportunity has also been paved to distribute the payment in parts to settle the full amount.
The State Electric Company (STELCO) revealed on Thursday, that they will remake the electricity bills with the inclusion of the subsidy after which they will be sent to households through SMS and STELCO’s mobile application.
Further, households that have paid the bills for June will have the 40 percent subsidy applied to their bills for the month of July, said STELCO.
Earlier, the company revealed that some members of the public had raised concern over difficulties in settling bills due to the impacts of the pandemic following which customers were given the opportunity to settle their bills, in parts, for March, April as well as May.
Consumers are urged to request at STELCO between July 5 to 2pm, July 19 if they wish to settle their bills for the four months in parts.
