Today, the economic and social benefits achieved by all nations alike has benefited humanity and strengthened our bonds of friendship. Today we have been reminded more strongly of the merits of multilateralism, as we join forces to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, this unprecedented challenge has shaken our societies and brought the entire world to a complete halt”Abdulla Shahid, Foreign Minister![]()

No nation was prepared for this pandemic. It has laid bare, the limits of even the largest countries, no act alone. It has re-emphasized the need for multilateralism. Global problems require global efforts, global cooperation. In a similar way, the challenge of our times such as climate change and increasing natural disasters, require global cooperation, solidarity and commitment. We must rise to the occasion to further strengthen our resolve to achieve global peace, which is inextricably linked with development. All nations must work together to further our shared ideals of peace, economic progress and social justice. Maldives stands ready to do its part through cooperation, solidarity and trust in multilateralism. Together, we can shape a better future for all of us”Abdulla Shahid, Foreign Minister![]()
