The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)’s expenses for health-related spending in the Covid-19 response efforts has surpassed MVR 700 million.
The Ministry of Finance revealed that the total spending towards Covid-19 response efforts in the health sector increased to MVR 943.1 million which is a 2.2% increase in comparison to the previous week.
90.6% of the expenses were contributed through NDMA and the Ministry of Health, revealed the Weekly Covid-19 Spending Report.
Within the past week, NDMA spent MVR 13.5 million out of which 83.6% was on operational services and requisites.
55.3% of the total expenditure was committed spending by June 11, said the Finance Ministry.
NDMA spent a total of MVR 709.5 million from their domestic budget out of which most of the amount was spent on procuring supplies and requisites for service provision, which was at MVR 363.7 million. NDMA spent 112.1 million on capital equipment, 17.5 million in grants, contributions and subsidies as well as 30.9 million for land and buildings. The authority also spent 51.3 million on supplies and requisites.
Coming at second, the health ministry spent MVR 145.1 million out of which 77.3 million was spent on procuring supplies and requisites for service provision, 63 million on capital equipment and 1.3 million on operational services. Further, the ministry spent 1.5 million on repairs and maintenance, 1.2 million for supplies and requisites as well as MVR 900,000 for travel expenses.
MVR 28.7 million out of the total of MVR 29.2 million spent by the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure was for land and buildings while the remaining MVR 400,000 was spent on supplies and requisites.
The Ministry of Tourism spent at total of MVR 27.4 million out of which 10 million was for operational services, 7.3 million for supplies and requisites to provide services, 4.8 million for repairs and maintenance as well as 1.9 million for travel expenses. The ministry’s capital equipment spending sat at 1.6 million by June 11.
The state had spent a total of MVR 455.3 million in supplies and requisites for service provision, 113.6 million in grants, contributions and subsidies, 178.0 million in capital equipment and 59.6 million in land and buildings by June 11.
The weekly publication pertains to the “committed spending” on Covid-19 related efforts and is publicized every Monday with the data cut-off date as the Thursday of the following week.
