Covid-19: over 1,900 cases confirmed in the Maldives, recoveries reach 763

The new cases include Maldivians, Bangladeshi, Indian and Sri Lankan nationals

An additional 18 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed this via Twitter on Saturday night. The new cases include 13 Maldivians, three Bangladeshi nationals and one individual from Sri Lanka and Nepal each.

With the new cases, the country’s Covid-19 total case count has reached 1,901.

While there are currently 1,128 active cases in the country, an additional 46 patients have also recovered from the virus. This brings the total recoveries to 763.

There are currently 1,201 individuals in isolation facilities and 1,443 under quarantine.

An eighth Covid-19 related death was announced on Saturday, a 38-year-old Bangladeshi national passed away in the morning after being moved to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) “in critical condition”.
