Ferries have been scheduled within 15-minute intervals from 7am to 8am from Malé

Changes have been brought to the ferry schedule between Malé and Villimalé.

All transport services in the capital region was brought to a standstill following the lockdown declared across the Greater Malé region after the first case of the Covid-19 community transmission was discovered.

The changes are effective from Saturday onward, revealed the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The first ferry is scheduled to depart from Villimalé at 6:45am and the first ferry from the capital is set to depart at 7am.

Ferries have been scheduled within 15-minute intervals from 7am to 8am from Malé and from 6:45am to 8:15am from Villimalé.

A break will be observed between 8:30am and 11am from Malé and ferries will be operated within 30-minute intervals from 2:30pm onward from Malé to Villimalé.

The schedule will be effective on Friday as well and the authorities have also announced the decision to allow Villimalé residents to travel to the capital for essential purposes.

This comes at a time the government has begun implementing the lockdown ease plan across the Greater Malé Region on May 29.
