Restrictions in Addu City
Travel restrictions eased within Addu City
These changes are effective from Saturday onward
Movement will be allowed within these districts from 6am to 6pm
Citizens are not required to acquire a police permit to travel during this period

Addu City Council has permitted travel between districts of the southernmost city.

In a statement, the city council revealed that the changes are effective from Saturday onward and movement will be allowed within these districts from 6am to 6pm.

Citizens are not required to acquire a permit from the Maldives Police Service (MPS) to travel within the city’s districts during this period.

However, police permits are required when traveling within districts outside these hours, for medical needs and essential purposes.

Further, the city council has also been publicizing the scheduled ferry timings between islands joined by the residents of Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo districts, through the southern transport link.

Although these travel restrictions have been eased, the council has urged the community to refrain from traveling within islands unless absolutely necessary and to avoid social gatherings at all times.

The council added that citizens are not allowed to go on picnics, despite the ease on restrictions.

No Covid-19 cases have been reported from the southernmost city thus far.
