The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has revealed that 67 of the 1,841 Covid-19 cases recorded in the Maldives thus far, are vulnerable cases.

The vulnerable percentage is less in comparison to the number of Covid-19 cases reported in the Maldives, and it is 5.4% percent of the active cases.

There are 1,224 active cases of the virus currently.

According to the statistics publicized by the Covid-19 task force, 28 elders are included among these vulnerable 67 cases.

The remaining are deemed high-risk patients as they suffer from health complications.

Those suffering from respiratory diseases, diabetics, high blood pressure and other chronic and long-term illnesses are at a higher risk of Covid-19 complications.

While Maldives has reported seven Covid-19 related deaths thus far, all of them were also vulnerable patients. Four out of the seven were elderly Maldivian patients and the remaining three were expatriates, two out of which suffered heart-related ailments.
