Maldives has confirmed 24 additional cases of the Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, on Monday evening.

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed that the new cases include four Maldivians, 18 Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian nationals.

With this development, the country's Covid-19 total has risen to 1,395.

Since the discovery of the first-ever community transmission of the infection on April 15, the Greater Malé Region has been under lockdown, and authorities earlier anticipated that the country is headed towards a surge in the coming days, however, authorities are currently preparing to lift the lockdown order.

There have been four fatalities in the island nation thus far, and 144 coronavirus-stricken patients have recovered.
